"Rowan"

Rowan is a fascinating member of the flock. She's a bit of a beast, but we mean that in all the good ways. She doesn't get picked on, and she doesn't pick on others too much. All she really wants to do is eat! Thankfully, she's not as belligerent about it as Bluey is, but she is always right there ready for a snack. 

As a Rhode Island Red, we were expecting a more "friendly" demeanor, but all things considered, she's a beautiful bird and doesn't cause any flock drama.

Rowan is our third momma hen - to Odin. The combination of Rowan's red and Spock's iridescent black produced a fantastic color combination with Odin. We wish we could have kept him!

We've read that Rhode Island Red chickens tend to have more health problems than other breeds, so we try to keep a closer eye on Rowan's well-being. She does tend to lay a weak egg once in a while, so we also try to make sure she gets extra calcium in her diet.
